City on a Hill Productions is now accepting video audition submissions for all lead roles in The Song.
How to Audition
Please read the character descriptions below, choose the role(s) for which you wish to audition, then click the submit your audition button. You will find download links for 2 scenes that you will use to audition. Additionally, those auditioning for Jed King and Shelby Bale will need to prepare and perform a song, preferably from the Americana/Singer-Songwriter genre, that contains a dynamic emotional and vocal range.
Jed and Rose King
Jed – Age: 20s-30s – The story takes us from Jed’s early twenties, when he’s a gifted, charismatic, optimistic, and wise-beyond-his-years, aspiring singer-songwriter, to his early thirties when he’s famous, burnt out, and world-weary. Imagine someone who could write the contemporary equivalent of Song of Solomon at age 23 and Ecclesiastes at age 33. Additional skills of singing and guitar playing are preferred.
Rose – Age: 20s-30s – Jed’s sweetheart and later wife. She’s the radiant, lovely, intelligent, and innocent girl next door (if you lived on a picturesque farm) that you’d take home to mom. Like Jed, we see her in her early twenties through her early thirties.
Shelby Bale
Age: 20s-30s – The girl you wouldn’t take anywhere near your mom. One of Jed’s fellow musicians, she’s beautiful, brazen, and sultry. While the real Solomon was brought down by 700 wives and 300 concubines…well…Jed has Shelby, and that’s almost as bad. Additional skills of singing and violin/guitar playing are preferred.
David King
A handsome, gifted, charismatic, and wise-beyond-his-years, aspiring singer-songwriter, who becomes famous, burnt out, and world-weary. Additional skills of singing and guitar playing are preferred.
